Luiz Solha
Luiz Carlos Solha Junior (Mongaguá, São Paulo, Brazil, 1958), better known as Luiz Sôlha, is a Brazilian painter, sculptor, engraver, and photographer with a bachelor's degree and teaching certification in Fine Arts. Luiz Sôlha, renowned for his dense and hyper-realistic figurative paintings, grew up in the coastal town of Mongaguá, on the southern coast of São Paulo State. The son of a railroad worker by day and a projectionist by night, he spent his childhood in the town's only cinema, training his mind to observe the world around him frame by frame. His painting is deeply influenced by this cinematic memory, defining his perfectionist style that transcends flaws and criticisms with a tolerant approach.

Mata Atlântica Series
Since 2019, Luiz Solha has been developing the project "Mata Atlântica" as part of the concept "Life on Earth and Transitions." Through oil painting, the artist explores a transition inspired by direct life experiences within the biomes of the Atlantic Forest, where he was born and raised.
The intention behind these paintings is to present what the artist refers to as a "view from within," positioning themselves inside the forest and observing the landscape outside as a being who belongs to and is integrated into this atmosphere. This perspective is deeply rooted in their childhood experience. The works are a personal reconstruction of Brazil’s tropical forests, shaped by memories and lived experiences of life on Earth and its transitions.
"Life on Earth and Transitions" is centered on the presence of water, oxygen, and temperature—elements fundamental to life—and emphasizes that everything is transient. Transition is seen as a straight passage, inherent to life itself, a reorganization of visible changes in the external world that interact with all living beings.
A Tinta Pintada Series
“By squeezing the oil paint tube onto the palette, I create a sculpture of color. I photograph it with a macro lens, generating enlarged images of this micro-universe with close-ups, focused and unfocused areas, which I then reproduce in oil on canvas in large formats.”
